In breaking news, Waverley and Victorian Viper superstar Renee Trost will fly to Beijing as a reserve player following Hockeyroo Fiona Johnson’s hamstring injury ruled her out of the games that start in 3 days.
The Hockeyroos open their Olympic campaign against South Korea on Sunday.
Best of luck to Ren from all the gang at The Hockey Show!

Renee’s a superstar – I hope she FINALLY gets a chance to show the hockey world, and Murray, that she’s a player who is more than capable to mix it with the best at the Olympic level. Go Renee!!

Ballza isn’t Trost from the wrong side of the border to be a Victorian player

In a Russell Crowe/Crowded House style way…..I think we’ll claim her!

Well done Renee. I believe that you should have been named in the 16 from word go.
There are some serious question marks about the coaches’ selections and general thought processes.
He has carried injured players into the Olympics, not surprisingly one has broken down – he then proceeds to replace a Half Back player with a STRIKER!
It seems to me super coach has some anti Victorian hang ups from a previous coaching role.

Well done Ren – about time there are some Victorians in the team!!

Go Ren!

Well said Tim.
Their seems to be massive holes in the selections past and present. But the coach is not accountable to anybody – even most of the hockey public are blissfully unaware of the issues, the balance, the injuries, the fitness, the politics.
We all wish the girls the best of luck, but the sooner Trost is in the 16 the better.

Renee has chosen to play for Victoria. i agree with the above replies; because she is such a versatile player and her fitness level is unquestionable she should have been chosen in the 1st 16. Someone needs to move on from the past and should be looking at the responsibility to the Nation.
Go Ren we are all praying here on the Border that you get your chance to show Murray what he overlooked.

So take your Victorian/Trost loving hat off and put yourself in the coaches shoes and tell me who would you drop from the current 16 for Renee?
and ultimately the coach is very much accountable because no gold medal usually equals no job after the olympics.
