Bartos Appointed to HV Board

Friday, May 1st, 2009

We would like to congratulate Adam ‘Bartos’ Barty on his successful nomination to the casual vacancy on the board of directors of Hockey Victoria.

As a result of his appointment in order to ensure that there are no conflicts of interest Bartos has taken a leave of absence from his role with The Hockey Show which means he will no longer contribute articles to this site, make forum posts or moderate our forums.

We wish him all the best in his endeavors on the HV board.

Mouse.

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

It was with a great sense of shock that we recently heard of Michael “Mouse” Brennan’s diagnosis with Lymphoma. We understand Mouse has had numerous tests already that have detected the cancer, but Mouse is about to undergo a series of further tests to determine the severity of the diagnosis.

Many Victorian’s will know Mouse, as he played a number of seasons with the Essendon Hockey Club, in which he helped lead them to two premierships. Before his triumphant return to the Kookaburra’s where he went on to win a Gold Medal at the Athens Olympics. Many Melbournians commented at the time that no single player in the history of Victorian Hockey had made such a definitive impact on the entire State League One competition…much less a Queenslander! In short: he was bloody awesome.
