That’s right folks – with the support of Hockey Victoria the crew have agreed to pull the camera and microphone out of the kit bag for a special one off one hour Grand Final Day extravaganza. The show will not be broadcast on Channel 31 but it will be made available online in both a low res and a high res version – meaning you can tune in no matter what your internet connection speed is!
The show will cover the best bits of the SL1 grand finals as well as interviews with GF players, people in the crowd and also the players named in the SL1 teams of the year which will be announced on the day.
The broadcast is going to be provided on its own website – you can check it out now and maybe see if you can identify who posed for our rather uninspiring photo shoot!
So what are you waiting for? Hit it now – www.grandfinal08.com.
The site will broadcast the show from the 24th of September through to the end of October so its one of those limited time offer things – but sorry no steak knives…
We look forward to seeing you on Grand Final day 2008 and remember… keep dribbling!

great work guys, really looking forward to it.
please confirm that “wansy” guy who presented special-drowsy-comments at the Ole Limp Dix WILL NOT be part of the broadcast team.

We are in negotiations with the management of the team we consider the best hockey commentary pairing in recent memory (going back at least 12 months) – Bryan and Ballza. Fingers crossed our offer of three kebabs and a six pack of vintage swan lager will get them across the line and into the comm box.

Great stuff guys!!!!
Even if you need to go as high as 3 kebabs each I think its worth it!!

Amazing work boys

has anyone reminded hawthorn it is impossible to swing a stick with one hand around your throat?
September 16th, 2008 at 11:38 am
can anyone provide a comprehensive breakdown of hawthorn’s finals record since coming back to SL1 in 2000/01? year, opponent, result, score etc?
September 16th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
moving to the present day Hawthorn HC have a pretty enviable finals record this year as they have qualified their men’s and women’s SL1 teams for the Grand Final plus both their men’s and women’s PA teams. pretty sensational effort considering all of things that can heepen over the length of the season! anyone know the last time that was done?
September 16th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Credit where credits due, that’s an impressive effort by the club.
September 16th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
Not sure if it has ever occurred. Records of the winners go back a fair way but not so sure about records of the other grand finalist. Goes to show that the GF is the only one that counts – the winner is the only one that will be remembered. I’d put some of my hard earned on Hawthorn losing all 4 games. Want to give me some odds Dekers?

hawthorn have just announced they have signed yet another import in the pursuit of finals toughness! tim henman will join his british buddies at the hawthorn labor club lakers in ’09
September 17th, 2008 at 11:27 am
They will not lose all 4. You are essentially asking for a multi on Hawthorn’s 4 opponents into each other. Greens, Greens, Ess Ladies, Ess Ladies.
you can have 10′s
September 17th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Its unfair to call Hawthorn chokers. They are simply not good enough to win, that’s all
September 17th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
love them or loath them it would imo actually be a good thing for the competition for hawthorn to win the men’s SL1 flag to show that Boro can be beaten.
whether they can shke off the bridesmaid tag and actually do it is another thing all together!
September 18th, 2008 at 11:56 am
No it wouldn’t. They are the least deserving club in Victoria
September 18th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
Considering Hawthorn Ladies Pen A have played in the last 6 GF’s and won 4 of them, I think someone should take Dekers up on his odds…
September 18th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
So you think cause they have won 4 of 6 they are going to get beaten this time around? I would have thought finishing top and that kind of record would see them favourites, if only slightly.
Punter was asking for odds that Hawthorn would LOSE all 4 GF’s. IMO they will not lose 4. I said he could have 10-1 on his money if he thinks Haw will lose all 4 GFs.
Must be Spring….

Jealousy is a curse! Hawthorn have 5 teams in the Grand Finals this weekend. Women’s SL1, Men’s SL1, Women’s Pennant A, Mens Pennant A, Women’s Pennant C. I think the Hockey Show has stooped to such a low ebb with the comments about Hawthorn. We will show you with a clean sweep of the 5 matches. Then everyone can turn off the insane rubbish and stupid antics that comes from this crappy TV show. They just love to Hawthorn bash – look at last year’s pre-grand final dinner. I thought they had their act together with the pre-season cup. But I think that it is also on the nose!
September 18th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
Greensborough have lost the last 3 pennant A grand finals. They have not even scored a goal in a GF in 3 years…
So if Hawthorn chokes like you all think they will and Grn chokes, who wins?
September 18th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Deserving it, or not, has nothing to do with it. No one wins, or loses at this level because they deserve to. You win or you lose on account of what your team does on the field, on that day. Everyone works hard at this level and reaps the rewards of it (barring atrocious umpiring). The teams that are in the final deserve to be there BECAUSE they have made it there. It’s as simple as that.
And who are you to say they don’t deserve it? Have you attended trainings there? Taken part in fitness sessions and team meetings? I doubt it- can’t imagine any one who has would say such things. Uninformed comments based on prejudice are meritless. Sounds like a case of jealousy and sour grapes.
September 18th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
medal collector, you’ve got the wrong end of the stick – Dekers is suggesting it’s highly unlikely that Hawthorn will lose all 4 GFs…
September 19th, 2008 at 11:09 am
Green Chokers says: Greensborough (PA) haven’t scored a goal in a GF in 3 years…
Could this be 4? Hawthorn PA haven’t conceded a goal in this years final series.

only hawthorn supporters would found it necessary to defend themselves with knee jerk reaction to bagging here. don’t get sucked in, and let your actions on sunday do the talking. really shows you have no idea how to win, you are so insecure about yourselves. get a heart and get on with it.
September 19th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
I understand Dekers odds, I just wanted punter who was so keen to bet with his ‘hard earned’ on hawthorn loosing, to go ahead, take the attractive odds and get bent over! Hawthorn winners, Dekers cashed up, ronny result….
PS Its all getting very serious, how about a few beers, the quady tip from Dekers for the weekend, and a visit to Nikki Hudsons facebook site to lighten the mood!
September 19th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
I think I might have started all this but really Hawks fans lighten up. the theme of my post was very positive and just because someone – probably from a club without 5 teams in snr grand finals – knocks you, don’t get all in a flap about it. just chill, win as many flags as you can and enjoy a beverage or 2 to celebrate or commiserate!
September 19th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Leg 1 – 7, 12, 4
Leg 2 – 2, 1, 8, 19*
Leg 3 – 2, 4, 11
Leg 4 – 5, 13, 20*(if 20 doesnt start then 1)
Those on a budget take the 7 by himself in Leg 1. * are emergencies who should go well if they get a start.

How about the weekend! It certainly proves that Hawthorn are NOT chokers! An amazing result for the Women’s division – First ever State League Premiership in the history of the competition, 5th win in succession for the Women’s Pennant A and 1st win for Pennant C who jump to Pennant B next year. The men, well what a match, very tense indeed. Hawthorn showed their skills and crushed a very determined Greensborough. Well done Hawthorn. You are a truly amazing Club – here we go for 2009!
September 23rd, 2008 at 4:42 pm
No doubt a brilliant weekend for the Hawks but to say you “crushed” Boro would be pushing it quite a bit. 2-1 is as tight as it comes and the win was largely thanks to the brilliance of a certain Mr G Bazeley in the net! The man was immense…

“Punter” who thought betting against hawthorn in a multi for them to lose every final somewhat backfired as Hawthorn won 3 out of 4 Grand Finals. The 3 premierships for hawthorn sees “punter” with quite a light wallet for the off season…
October 3rd, 2008 at 2:36 am
Im not a licensed Bookmaker and i have a feeling that Punter is an alias? So i think he/she can hang onto their cash for another day.
