THS Cup Fixture

Check out your club’s first match in The Hockey Show Cup! Matches have been scheduled at a number of suburban grounds across the weekend. The Cup is, of course, a knockout competition with the winners progressing over four weekends to the final where they will be competing for $500 cash prizemoney.

    with this years THS Cup underway a couple of suggestions on how it could be better next year:
    1. make it a ‘tennis style’ draw so you have teams in two halves. this enables clubs to tentatively arrange games for Round 2 onwards unlike the ‘FA Cup style’ draw. this lead time is important for your Pennant teams when organising pre-season games. also more transparent for clubs/ fans.
    2. THS organise the umpires, maybe coordinated through the HVOC? the games I’ve seen have had average un-badged umps which has detracted from the spectacle and quality of the game
    3. set the format for extra time e.g. golden goal, instead of teams agreeing beforehand. fairer for all clubs across the board then.
    4. play both Grand Finals at the SNHC on a Sat arvo. is this what’s happening this year cos I can’t see any info on the site about it?
    5. get the draw and results up earlier in the week even if the round isn’t fully completed – maybe use HV/ SportingPulse to do this?

    The two games i saw were very well umpired as both had what would normally have been rostered umpires – John, Marsh, Shelton & Dawson (the later i’m not sure of level).
    Can you please get the results and subsequent weeks draw out earlier for all to see so can decide which games to go to?
    Keep up the good work, great idea goes back to Stuart Surridge Cup days (those of us who can remember!

    I can’t even find the fixture for this week so I’ll say the only game I know. Altona vs Greens at Altona 8pm Friday 14th.
